—Bryan Diaz (B.S. ’18), counselor, HEOP

Prior to NYITCOM, I had been at seven other medical schools. I have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly regarding leadership. Thanks largely to Hank’s leadership, this is the best place I have ever been. In his first presentation, I looked for transparency and vision. He delivered both. I remember other faculty shaking their heads when he talked of where we could be in a short time, jumping over so many schools. But I knew exactly what he was talking about. The hill to climb is initially shallow and does not become steep until you get to a more elite level. He told us what he was going to do, and he did it! And he did it the right way, by instilling pride, excitement, and passion for excellence. All of a sudden, people were excited to come to work and contribute. This is leadership.

—Anthony (Martin) Gerdes, Ph.D., professor and chair of biomedical sciences NYITCOM

My sincerest thanks to you for your leadership over the years and I hope that you continue to do, make, innovate, and heal as you move on to now reinvent your own future!

—Michael Nizich, Ph.D., director, Entrepreneurship, Technology, and Innovation Center (ETIC)

—SaraJane McCaslin, director, student communications Enrollment Management and Strategic Communications

As you prepare to step down, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank you, not just for leading New York Tech, but for challenging us to think beyond the obvious, push past limitations, and embrace innovation as a way of life. You didn’t just shape policies or programs, you shaped a culture, one that will continue to grow long after you’ve moved on. Your impact isn’t measured by the years you served but by the students who now see the world differently because of your influence. That’s a legacy that doesn’t fade; it evolves, just as you encouraged us to. Wishing you all the best in this next chapter. The foundation you built here will keep moving forward, and so will we.

—Hizam Muharram, student, business administration School of Management

When I was just a high school student in the first half of 2017, I got accepted to New York Tech and attended admitted student day in April 2017. During this event, President Foley was telling us his inspiring life story and that he became the president of New York Tech that year. At the end of his speech, he threw a stress ball into the crowd in my direction, and I caught it! Not only did President Foley’s inspiring story motivate me to want to attend New York Tech even more, but I took catching this stress ball as a sign... Later, as a student at New York Tech from 2017–2022, I gave it my all, from classwork, class projects, to working at the ETIC. Today, I teach computer science full time at New York Tech. What a journey. Thank you, President Foley!

—Robert Doxey (B.S. ’22), visiting assistant professor, computer science College of Engineering and Computing Sciences

On behalf of the Mathematics Department, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to you, President Foley, for your unwavering support in advancing the role of computational mathematics in the sciences. Before, our department primarily functioned as a service unit. However, under your visionary leadership, we established the Applied and Computational Mathematics major, expanded our faculty with esteemed scholars, and significantly enriched the department’s research portfolio. From our first conversation on the concept of “minimal surfaces and zero curvature” to our thought-provoking email exchanges on computational methods, Wolfram Mathematics, and generative AI, your genuine enthusiasm for mathematics has left a lasting impact. Your dedication to fostering mathematical exploration and innovation has truly elevated our department. We wish you a joyful and fulfilling retirement and look forward to staying connected through continued mathematical discourse. Thank you for everything.
